How to Save on Your Auto Insurance Like George Bush

The price of gas just keeps on going up and has no apparent relief in site (probably due more to George Bush's close personal ties to big oil and the middle east than anything else). This in turn is driving up inflation and the cost of almost everything we buy or need including auto or car insurance. Here's how to turn the tables in your favor and save money on your auto insurance like George Bush would if he had to pay for his auto insurance.

We've all seen the commercials and mailings for Progressive and Geico telling us to get online and compare auto insurance companies and get competing quotes. There is a good reason for this - it will save you money. In most cases, shopping for auto insurance quotes online will save you big money (the average online auto insurance shopper pays 38% less in auto insurance premiums). Get online and shop your auto insurance. You will save money.

It also helps to drive defensively and safely. According to the National Foundation for Highway and Traffic Safety, aggressive drivers cause 90% of all accidents and pay 30 - 70% more in auto insurance premiums. Take a defensive driving course. Many technical and community colleges offer these courses and they may also reduce points on your license and DMV record. That leads to another important way of saving money on your auto insurance - get points removed from your license. You get points for things like speeding, not stopping for a stop sign, running a red light, and not waving to George Bush (Just kidding). These points cause immediate rate increases on your auto insurance. Most states offer free or nearly free courses that will reduce the points on your license for most infractions (except for drunk driving and driving under the influence - you have to have a powerful name like Kennedy or Bush and then you get driven home).

Another way to save money on your auto insurance is to increase your deductible and assume more risk.. You will save money by, for instance, going from a $250 deductible to a $1000 deductible. One word of caution, do not drop uninsured and under insured motorists coverage. Due to George Bush and his lenient policy in the past with illegal aliens in our country from Mexico we now have over 20 million illegal and uninsured motorists in America.

Another great way to save money on your auto insurance is to drive a vehicle with a low theft rate. It is a proven fact that auto insurance companies charge higher premiums based on car brand and model theft rates. Since George Bush did practically nothing to stop these illegal aliens from Mexico we now have millions of them and they love to steal cars as some have found it easier than purchasing and they love Honda Civics and Accords. We don't hear of many of them tooling around in a Mazda or a minivan. Maybe if George Bush invoked trade restrictions with Mexico this would change and jobs would come back to America?

Joining professional groups like AAA. AARP, etc... can also save you money on your auto insurance as you may be entitled to group rates. There are many other ways also. Now you know how to save money on your auto insurance and why we are earning less and executives at big oil are earning more and more (George Bush takes care of his friends). Also, I don't know if it's a republican thing, but lets think before we put a Bush in a political office in the future. If you haven't yet had the opportunity, please watch Farenheit 9/11 and learn more about George Bush and his brother in Florida.

Discount Auto Insurance - Sure, Why Not?

Where can I find a discounted rate for my auto insurance needs? What can I do to get low rates & superior coverage?

The insurance companies will ask you to drive carefully. And it's good advice, but probably not what you were hoping to hear.

Ask for discounts! - If you are a good driver you may be able to lower your existing policy.

Buying a new car? - Find out where the price of the car changes in terms of policy cost. A few thousand dollars can make a difference.

Red-flag cars! - Some insurance companies charge more for certain cars that are targeted for passenger injury and/or are more often stolen or vandalized than another make of vehicle.

Could you drive a little less? - Mileage due to business travel and/or commutes can drive policy prices up. Carpooling once a week can sometimes make the difference in the premiums you pay.

Are you 50 or older? AARP is a membership organization that offers great auto discounts for all people 50+ for $12.50/yr. These great discounts are not limited to automobile insurance by any means.

The automobile insurance they offer is from The Hartford Automobile Insurance Company for AARP - members, only.

A few highlights offered by AARP for this auto insurance plan with The Hartford are:

Full 12-month rate protection and lifetime renew ability are standard with this exclusive plan from The Hartford.

Benefits include:

Full New Car Replacement Guarantee

Lifetime Repair Warranty

Lifetime Renew ability

Fast, no-hassle claim payments

Online Customer Service Center for claim reporting, bill payment

Free, no-obligation rate quote

There are many other automobile insurance discounts offered by various automobile insurance companies for good driving records.

Why does the price of auto insurance vary so much from company to company and by what car you buy? Insurance companies are talking about how many coverage's and deductibles you need and that is determined by the following:

What do you drive? - Generally, the more pricey your auto the more pricey your premiums.

Buying a new car? - Better re-evaluate your existing policy.

How do you drive & where? - Accidents, vandalism, & theft raise rates. Small town citizens usually pay less than the city folk, especially the big, big city folks.

How much do you drive? - The more miles you drive, the more you will pay.

Are you married? Over 25? Male or female? - It matters. Accident rates are higher for all drivers under age 25, especially young males and single males.

Do you have a good driving record? - Accidents? Studies tell us that drivers who cause accidents will pay more.

How about a good credit history? - This too matters. Again, studies show credit history indicates certain characteristics of future auto insurance losses. Many insurance companies seriously utilize this information in deciding what to charge you.

Senior Auto Insurance - Ways to Get Discounts

It has been shown in studies have found that drivers who are 75 and older have one of the highest rates of fatal daytime accidents.

Often, senior drivers who are involved in accidents had no idea that their driving abilities had gradually become impaired over the years. An accident is often the first indication that an elderly person should stop driving. Until one occurs, senior drivers are reluctant to give up their independence.

Because of this, it's important that senior drivers stay proactively involved in keeping their driving skills sharp.

That is why a lot of states require taking a drivers safety course after a certain age. It can save you money if you are a senior and are with an auto insurance company that gives senior citizens discounts on their auto insurance.. A lot of the major auto carriers will increase your premium after age 50-55.

It was announced recently that AARP and Intermountain Healthcare have joined forces to offer US citizens aged 50 and older two four-hour classes. If senior citzens take these classes it is possible that they could get a discount on their auto insurance. The classes are designed to bring older drivers up to speed on new traffic laws, rules of the road and defensive driving techniques. No test is required to graduate and everyone who enters the course leaves with a certificate.

AARP offers some great Senior Auto Insurance Benefits

These can include:

A New Car Replacement Guarantee

A Warrantee for Lifetime Repair

Lifetime ability to renew your policy

Fast, no-hassle claim payments

and Online Customer Service Center for claim reporting, bill payments and more.

AARP also offers 55 ALIVE, mature driving courses through local AARP chapters. Many insurance companies offer subscriber discounts with proof of course completion. Just be sure to check eligibility rules because these discounts are not provided with every auto insurance carrier.
